Beavers move to 0-17 with pitiful showing against Arizona

The Beavers' quest for an elusive Pac-10 victory continued on Thursday at Gill Coliseum, with no results. Oregon State only has one more game remaining on their Pac-10 schedule, a Saturday afternoon showdown with Arizona State.

The Beavers, who actually held a 6-4 lead in the early minutes of Thursday's game, found themselves down 40-18 at the half. The scored 27 points in the second half, for a total of 45. For the 5th game of the season, the Beavers were held to under 50 points.

That also means that if the officials would have decided to allow the Beavers to play the first and second halves, but only allowed Arizona to play in the second half, the Beavers would have won by only four. Now, it's a far-fetched idea, but you see where I'm going with this. The Beavers aren't very good.

Lathen Wallace led the Beavers with 11 points, a somewhat pitiful total for a leading scorer. Tarver and Claitt each had ten a piece. Between those three, 31 points were scored, leaving 14 to be distributed throughout the rest of the team. Joey McConnell scored four, and five players came in with two points each.

The quest for one conference victory continues with Oregon State's last chance on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Arizona State.

If any of you attended Thursday's game and would like to comment on the state of the Oregon State basketball team, go ahead. I'm sure most of you, like me, are excited to get basketball out of the way and move on to baseball season.

GO BEAVERS!
