The Beavers will look for the series sweep today against the Huskies. The game will be televised at 2:05 p.m. on FSN.
On the mound for the Beavers is... Jorge Reyes. The 6'3" sophomore right hander has been struggling this year, but he's had past success against the Huskies. Jorge is 1-1 this year with a 10.98 ERA, In 2007, Jorge picked up the only win the Beavers would record against the Huskies, a Sunday victory at Husky Ballpark in Seattle. Jorge threw 7 innings in the win, giving up only one run and five hits while striking out seven. Historically, Jorge pitches best at home, much like Mike Stutes who started in Game 1 yesterday. His career ERA at home is 3.86, and 5.09 on the road. He has five appearances this year, with a win coming in his first start against Miami of Ohio, but a loss coming in his second start to Georgia. Many Beaver fans were in attendence for that game at PGE Park, and may recall the clinic the Georgia batters put on Jorge. He allowed seven runs in two thirds of an inning, walking two and striking out one.
Hitting Streaks... Drew George and Chris Hopkins both moved their hitting streaks to eight games on Saturday. Drew is hitting .500 on the streak, 16 for 32, with 10 runs scored, 12 RBI's, 2 doubles, and a triple. Hopkins is .333 on his streak, 11 for 33 with eight runs scored and two home runs. Daniel Robertson will take a six game hitting streak into today's game.
Yesterday... In Game 1 of the series, Oregon State capitalized on ten hits, five of them doubles, and great pitching by Stutes and Peavey to run away from the Huskies and win 8-1.
In Game 2 of the series, Chris Hopkins drove in John Wallace with one out in the bottom of the 10th to give Oregon State a 2-1 win and their first Pac-10 series victory. James Nygren pitched eight innings and didn't allow an earned run. Mark Grbavac picked up the win after he threw 1.2 scoreless innings.
If there's anything I missed or anything you want to add, do so in the thread below. I'll see ya'll back here at game time.
