Women's team defeats Western Oregon in final tune up before Pac-10 play

Talisa Rhea scored 15, Kirsten Tilleman added 12 off the bench, and Oregon State was able to win handily over the Wolves of Western Oregon Sunday afternoon at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers led 38-13 at the half, and went on to win by 34: 66-32 was the final score.

The Beavers improve to 9-1 with the win, their best start to a season since the 1995-96 team went 10-1 to open its campaign. The win was also the Beavers' sixth in a row, the longest since the 2000-01 Oregon State team won its first six games of the season.

Oregon State dominated physically, out-rebounding Western 49-31. The Beavers have out-rebounded their opponents in each of their nine wins this season.

The Beavers shot 35% from the field, a reiltively low total for the team. Oregon State also shot 35% from three point range, and was 72% from the line.

The win gave some of the reserves extra minutes. In all, nine players played more than twelve minutes. All twelve players on the roster contributed.

The Lady Beavers will now travel to Los Angeles to take on UCLA (Thursday) and USC (Sunday) to start Pac-10 play.

They've had their best start in over ten years.... now it's time to carry that over into conference play.

GO BEAVERS!
