Profilin': Oregon State at Washington State

Update [2008-1-16 18:46:18 by Jake]: The correct table is now up on the right. My apologies.

Washington State, coming off their first loss of the year, is 14-1. The Cougars lost at the hand of Kevin Love and UCLA last week. Washington State trailed by 13 at halftime in that game, until a very late second half surge brought them within four. The Bruins ended up winning 81-74 behind 27 points from Kevin Love.

The Cougars hit seven threes in the last 1:37. Seven threes! If you don't believe me, follow this link and scroll to the bottom.

In that game, Derrick Low had 24 points, and he leads the team so far this season with a game average of 13.5. Aron Baynes and Kyle Weaver both average around 11 points per game, and three other players average over 7 ppg.

The Cougars are one of the best shooting teams in the country, but they don't take a lot of shots. Tony Bennet's squad plays at a very slow tempo, in fact, the 332nd slowest tempo in the nation.

But even though they slow the ball down, they're still efficient, play great defense, and most importantly, win games.

Tony Bennett is the kind of coach we need at OSU

The Cougars sound like a death trap for the Beavers, who sometimes play look like they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. The Beavers need everything they can get out of C.J., Seth, Josh, Marcel, Omari, and the rest of the team. That's basically the only way we can win at this point:

Flawless basketball.

Which... I haven't seen in a long time.

There's no TV for tomorrow's game, which could end up being a good thing. Who knows. Maybe we won't be able to see the biggest upset of the season.

GO BEAVERS!
