Tuesday Morning News and Notes

Jacoby Ellsbury played in his third MLB game last night. He went 2-for-2 with 2 walks, a stolen base, and went from second to home on a past ball. Those of us who saw the highlight on Baseball Tonight or SportsCenter can attest to the speed Jacoby displayed on that play. I'm still trying to get a Red Sox fan in here to talk about Jacoby, but for now, I recommend this story from the Providence Journal: Blink, and You'll Miss Him.

Tampa Bay comes to town to play the Red Sox today. Whether Jacoby will play another game in the bigs remains uncertain to me.

Dan Spencer left for Texas Tech yesterday, but according to some users over at Pure-Orange.net, Pat Bailey will be the replacement. If this is the case, it's a very good move for Oregon State. Bailey's been in the Pacific NW for a long time, and lead George Fox to a D3 National Championship in 2004.

Around the World of Sports, Quickly:

With a new Manager, the Mariners broke their eight game winning streak.

Greg Oden signed with the Blazers.

That's all I have for now. More is coming your way later today, I'm sure.

GO BEAVERS!
