Canham Encounters Setback

As we all know, Mitch Canham, the former Beavers standout catcher, started his professional career with the Eugene Emeralds, the Single-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. As Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune informs us, Canham was expected to move up this week, but he won't be going anywhere for awhile:

First-round compensation pick Mitch Canham, the catcher on Oregon State's national championship teams the last two years, was to rise to low Single-A Fort Wayne this week but instead will be out a few weeks. Canham required testicular surgery after being struck in the protective cup.

Ouch.

Go Beavers!
