The Beavers, once offensively challenged in the regular season, put up 12 runs and 18 hits on one of the best offensive teams in the nation, and went on to win 12-6..
Mike Stutes went six full innings for the Beavers, and went a few batters into the seventh. He gave up four runs on three hits, with five walks and four strikeouts. He got the win to improve his record to 11-4 on the season. Mike's stats aren't completely representative of his effort because he left with the bases loaded.
The Beaver bats were hot all day. In the first, Chris Hopkins lead off with a single to second, then Wong bunted him to second. Darwin Barney singled, putting runners on first and third for Mike Lissman, who also singled. Hopkins scored on the play, moving the runners to first and third again for Jason Ogata. Jason delivered with a single to center, scoing Darwin Barney, and putting the Beavers up 2-0. After that, Canham struck out, and Wells grounded out to end the inning.
In the second, Arizona State put up a run in the top half, but the Beavers countered back. Lennerton led off with a groundout to the second baseman, then Lechelt struck out for two quick outs. Chris Hopkins singled to left, then stole second. Wong doubled of the wall in right field, scoring Hopkins. Barney walked, then Lissman launched a home run. Ogata singled, before Mitch Canham ended the inning on a groundout to the pitcher. In the first two innings, the Beavers led 6-1. In the first two innings, the Beavers scored more runs than they did in the entire ASU series.

In the third, Lennerton homered to left, which would be the Beavers only production in the inning besides a double by Chris Hopkins.
In the fourth, Mitch Canham scored when Jordan Lennerton popped up to second, and the Beavers took a 8-1 lead.
Joey Wong got another RBI in the fifth when he hit Lonnie Lechelt in from third on a single to left. The Beavers continued to roll with a 9-1 lead, and took that into the sixth.
After holding the Sun Devils to zero runs, the Beavers came back with three MORE runs in the sixth. They got two quick outs, but then Jordan Lennerton singled. Lonnie LECHELT tripled, scoring Lennerton. Hopkins reaches on an error, scoring Lechelt. With Hopkins on base, Joey Wong hit an RBI single, scoring Chris for the third run of the inning. Those three runs gave the Beavers a 12-1 lead going into the top of the seventh, when Arizona State began to come alive.
Stutes walked a few guys, then the Beavers shuffled through some pitchers with the bases loaded. Some ASU runs scored, but eventually JoePa was able to shut down the Sun Devils after Blake Keitzman and Mark Grbavac were both unsuccessful. Arizona State scored four runs in the seventh, bringing the score to 12-5, Oregon State. Arizona State would go on to score one more in the top of the ninth, but their rally would not be good enough to take down the Beavers. Final Score-- 12, 6.

The Beavers had some guests for this game-- none other than Dallas Buck and Kevin Gunderson. They met with Dan Spencer after the game:
All in all, a great win for the Beavers. They now get a day off and are in the driver's seat of the lower bracket. They will play the winner of UC Irvine and Arizona State tomorrow. We can only imagine what will happen if we get a Beaver/Eater matchup...
