Game 2 of this series was a quick one that doesn't really need an inning by inning wrap up. The game was characterized by 1-2-3 innings for both teams, so it's not really worth it.
It was a pitcher's duel, with Joe Patterson for the Beavers vs. Josh Satow for the Sun Devils. If you asked Joe Patterson how many pitches he threw he would want back, he would probably tell you two. Those two pitches resulted in three Arizona State runs, the only three runs scored in the game.
The Beavers had their chance however when Satow left the game after the eighth inning. The Beavers got their first four men on base, but due to a fielder's choice, the bases were loaded with one out. With the tying run at first and the go-ahead run at the plate, Jordan Lennerton popped up to left, and Scott Santschi stuck out swinging to end the game.
On the day, the Beavers hit a combined .074 percentage, compared to the Sun Devils' .235.
When you're up against good pitching, you have to play small ball. The Sun Devils did that, the Beavers didn't, and ASU came out on top for the second day in a row.
The Beavers continue to get beat at their own game.
Game 3 coming to you by way of a live blog in just under an hour.
