Don't have time for an inning-by-inning recap this morning because I'm headed down to Corvallis to catch today's game.
The Beavers finally got their offense going, and guess what? They won. The Beavers used a five run inning that included a three run homer by Mike Lissman to take a large advantage over the Cougars, and a couple of insurance runs in the eighth sealed the deal.
The Beavers were still outhit 14-15, but in the grand scheme of things, Oregon State is so good at manufacturing runs that they really don't need an abundance of hits to score runs.
Patterson, Turpen, and Kunz handled this one on the hill. Patterson went four and two thirds, Turpen went three, and Fast Eddie went the last one and a third. Patterson gave up two runs on eight hits, walked three and struck out three. Turpen gave up two runs on five hits, didn't walk any, and put up one strikeout. Kunz only faced seven, but he allowed a run on two hits, and got a strikeout.
Mitch Canham DH'ed the game because of a shoulder injury. I don't know the details, but I'm sure we can all wish Mitch a fast recovery. I don't know if he'll be behind the plate today, but we'll find out.
No live blogging today... I'm headed to Corvallis. I'll be back here later tonight, but I'll leave an open thread up during the game.
