Weekend Recap

A lot happened this weekend, so here is my attempt to recap it:

First off, OSU's Baseball team dropped three games to Arizona down in the desert. Oregon State is rated #2 for the time being, and Arizona is rated #25. Here's a look at the results:

Friday: Arizona 5, Oregon State 3 Inning-by-Inning Updates, Game Recap

Saturday: Arizona 8, Oregon State 2 Inning-by-Inning Updates, Game Recao

Sunday: Arizona 17, Oregon State 14 Inning-by-Inning Updates, Game/ Series Recap

Oregon State plays USC in a three game series starting this Thursday. That game starts at 5:00 p.m. at Goss Stadium.

OSU's softball team went 2-1 for the weekend, losing a close one to Stanford, but picking up two wins over Cal on Saturday and Sunday. Here are the results:

Friday: Stanford 2, Oregon State 1 Recap

Saturday: Oregon State 4, Cal 3 Recap

Sunday: Oregon State 6, Cal 0 Recap

You'll read about this is if you read the recap for the third game, but Oregon State senior pitcher Brianne McGowan broke the all time wins record, and the all time shutouts record on Sunday, both in the same game. Brianne had five strikeouts on Friday, five more on Saturday, and one on Sunday.

See ya! (OSU Sports Information)

The Gymnastics team finished third at the Pac-10 Championships, which I imagine was a little bit lower than what they were hoping for. Here are the team results:

1) #8 UCLA 197.200

2) #4 Stanford 196.950

3) #9 Oregon State 196.300

4) #15 Arizona 196.000

5) Washington 194.775

6) #25 Arizona State 194.550

7) California 193.650

Oregon State won the floor exercise, sophomore Tasha Smith finished second in the all-around and Jami Lanz tied for third but it wasn’t enough for the Beavers.

The Beavers find out today when regional seedings are announced to learn where they’ll compete next. The NCAA Regionals take place April 14 at Alabama, Arizona, California, Denver, Michigan and West Virginia.

Since there weren't a ton of positives this weekend, I went in search of the lesser known teams.

The Men's Junior Varisty Rowing Boat finished in second place in the Grand Finals of the San Diego Crew Classic.

That's pretty good! ;)

What to look for in the coming hours/days:

  • A look at the 2006/2007 Civil War Standings
  • A look at an article written last week about the success our baseball team has had
  • A look ahead to the USC Trojans baseball team in preparation for Thursday's game
  • Updated Pac-10 Baseball Standings
  • Updated OSU Baseball Stats
  • Gymnastics Regional Info?

Go Beavers!
