When it came down to it, Oregon State had more depth than Portland on Tuesday.
OSU and UP battled late into the game, with Portland taking a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh. Oregon State then opened the floodgates with four runs in that inning, and five in the next, propelling them to a 12-4 win.
Jordan Lennerton helped out the cause with a grand slam in the eighth, the second game in a row that Lennerton has hit a home run to score the winning runs. Jordan went 3-for-4 on his afternoon. Mitch Canham was 2-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored.
Freshman Jorge Reyes and four relievers combined to pitch a four-hitter for Oregon State. This was Jorge's first start at Oregon State. He retired the first six Pilot hitters of the game, then allowed the two runs in the top of the third inning. After that, he sat down the final seven hitters he faced.
The Beavers are back in action Friday, Saturday, and Sunday against Cal at Goss Stadium.
Go Beavers!
