No. 8 OSU Wins Series with USC, 2-1

OSU's Baseball team rallied for four runs in the seventh to lift themselves over USC in a 9-5 victory. USC got all of their runs over the last four innings, but the Beavers were able to put up enough runs prior in the game, (3 in the third, 2 in the fourth) that it wasn't much of a problem.

Mike Stutes went 6.2 for the Beavers, with six strikeouts along the way. He moves to 7-1 with the win. Ryan Cook moved to 4-2 with the loss. He struck out four OSU batters over 6 innings.

Chris Hopkins, John Wallace, and Darwin Barney all went 2-for-4 for the Beavers, leading them offensively. Between the three of them, four runs were scored.

On Saturday, the Trojans got the win over the Beavers, 4-1. Joe Patterson was charged the loss (he moves to 5-3) after USC scored three runs in the eighth. He struck out four, and allowed all four Trojan runs.

Darwin Barney and Mitch Canham were both 2-for-4. Joey Wong got the only other hit for the Beavers.

In the rubber game of the series, the Beavers pulled away with a 9-8 victory off of Jordon Lennerton's walk off in the bottom of the eleventh inning. The pitch Lennerton took deep was the first pitch USC closer Paul Koss threw, and it was also the last.

Mike Lissman's homer in the bottom of the eighth tied the game, eventually leading to extra innings.

Daniel Turpen went 5.2 for the Beavers, and "closer" Eddie Kunz went 5.1, well beyond the call of duty. Eddie struck out five.

The Beavers advance to 25-7 overall and 2-4 Pac-10 after the USC series, and have a 4:30 match up with Portland Tuesday.

Go Beavers!
