With a 158 yard, five touchdown performance last night in a Texas semifinal game, Jacquizz broke the Texas state record for touchdowns (he now has 33), and became the second player in Texas to ever rush for 8,000 yards in a career. 8,000 yards!
Lamar Consolidated won the game 33-27, thanks to a 33 yard pass from Darrell Smallwood to Jacquizz in the third overtime. You can see that play in the first video below.

What Lamar Consolidated's Jacquizz Rodgers did tonight goes beyond words. He had 158 yards rushing and five scores, played linebacker and safety and caught the game-winning 33-yard pass from Darrell Smallwood to advance the Mustangs to the state title game. In a season filled with tremendous performances, what Rodgers did tonight tops them all. He is -- without question -- my choice for the area's player of the year.
