Postgame Reaction Part II :: The Civil War

A few discussion questions...

The outcome was....  thrilling. Heck, how many times should that game have been over? Quite frankly, it should have been over in the first half. But it's the Civil War, and nothing comes easily. The game also should have been over after Serna makes a field goal with a minute left (it was blocked). Then, the game should have been over if Oregon doesn't make the dumbest mistake I've seen in awhile. Long story short, it seemed like the momentum was changing in Autzen about twice a minute.

The offensive MVP was.... Matthew Sieverson. What a game he had in replacing Yvenson Bernard. The two play scoring drive capped by a Sieverson TD run to start the game was amazing, and it showed the entire world that Matthew Sieverson came to play. He never stopped after that first run either, racking up 142 yards. James Rodgers is also worth noting in this category for the great TD run he had in the second overtime. Lyle Moevao's 245 passing yards were also great, but it was Sieverson's performance that put the Beavers in a situation to win.

The defensive MVP was.... Derrick Doggett. It seems like we give this to him every week, but he came up with another clutch pick returned for a touchdown. Fourteen and a half tackles is a Civil War is also very impressive.

Heading into next week, I feel... well, there isn't really a next week, but I feel good heading into the bowl game. We've got a full day to sit around tomorrow and guess where we're headed. The Holiday is a possibility if ASU gets an at-large BCS bid. A Hawaii loss tonight against the Huskies would help us out. Washington is up a touchdown at half.
