It's been awhile since we've had some morning orange juice, but here is today's installment:
- Senior kicker Alexis Serna has qualified as a semifinalist for the Lou Groza award, given out to the best place kicker in the nation. Serna won this award in 2005, and is one of 20 semifinalists for the award this year. Three finalists will be announced on November 19th.
- The Women's basketball team plays Cal Poly in their third exhibition game of the year Saturday at Gill. Admission is free, so if you don't have anything else to do, stop by and watch the basketball game before you head to Reser for football. Tip off is at 3:00, so you should have plenty of time.
This story on third (now second) string quarterback Ryan Gunderson is about a month old now, but it's a good read. I neglected to post anything about it when I first read it, but since I stumbled upon it again on the OSU website, I decided to give it a mention. Here's an excerpt:
Q. What are a few of your goals for the rest of the season?
I just want to enjoy the rest of the season. The season has had its ups and downs so far, but I feel like there is a big opportunity to bounce back. This is a good team that hasn't played its best yet. When we do though, we are all really going to have some fun.
Another goal is that I would like to aid in the growth of Sean, Lyle, Brennan, and Justin. I'm kind of the old man around, and if I can be there for those guys on the field, in the classroom, or just in everyday life I feel like it could help. I've been through a lot at OSU and I know that if you have someone to talk to about your experiences it can be really positive.
Q. What will you remember most about your time playing at Oregon State?
I will remember my first practice, my first time running out of the tunnel, beating USC, becoming a captain my senior year, and I'm sure I will always remember the last time I am in uniform on the field. And last but definitely not least beating the Ducks.
Oregon State's volleyball team (10-15, 3-10 Pac-10) will host No. 9 UCLA and No. 6 USC this weekend to finish off their season. Kristin Murray is Oregon State's lone senior. The team finishes the season with three matches on the road.
