The outcome was.... realistic. Maybe our hopes were too high heading into this game, or we just underestimated USC’s talent. We couldn’t get any protection for Canfield, and we couldn’t get into John David Booty’s face. Besides that, the defense played tough, despite an offense that gave USC great starting field position the whole game.

The offensive MVP was.... lets give it to James Rodgers. His 39 yard run on the first play of the game was the offensive highlight. He was our leading rusher, even though he only carried the ball 3 times.

The defensive MVP was.... the entire defense. We did such a good job of shutting the Trojans down in the second half that everyone deserves the credit. If it wasn’t for that eight minute stretch in the second quarter when USC scored their three touchdowns, it’s a whole different ball-game. It seems like Joe McKnight ran all over us, but in reality, he only gained 34 yards on the ground. John David Booty threw for 157 in the air, and Chauncy Washington was the leading rusher with 64 yards.

If Yvenson plays and is healthy.... the game is a lot closer. It’s hard to tell how much Yvenson would have affected the final score, but I know for a fact we could have easily gone to Yv in short yardage situations to pick up first downs. Hopefully he is ready to go next week.

Heading into next week, I feel... nervous. Without Yvenson, our offense is sunk. Hopefully Yvenson will be back for the UW game. QB Jake Locker is a very talented runner and passer, but I think our defense can contain him. Our troubles are on offense.

Feel free to answer those same five questions in the comment thread below. I'm intersted to see what Beaver Nation thought of this game.
