Blogging the Bowls: Yesterday and Today

I was gone at a basketball tournament all day yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to post the predictions for the UCLA/FSU game, let alone watch it. Below, you will find the predictions for yesterday's bowl, as well as the three games that will take place today.

Yesterday:

  • The Emerald Bowl (Florida State 44, UCLA 27) Notes: Didn't get to watch the game, but this puts the Pac-10 at (0-3), with three teams yet to play. (Oregon State, Cal, USC)

Today:

  • The PetroSun Independence Bowl. Ca-Ching! (Oklahoma State vs. Alabama) Notes:   The Crimson Tide are without fired coach Mike Shula, and their defensive coordinator will take over as interim head coach. Both teams are 6-6, and Alabama only posted 2 conference victories, Oklahoma State 3.
  • The Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. Ca-Ching! (Cal vs. Texas A&M) Notes: The Pac-10 will get another shot at a post season victory tonight, when Cal plays Texas A&M tonight in San Diego. An end-of-season letdown kept Cal from a more prestigious bowl berth, but they may have their hands full with Texas A&M.
  • The Texas Bowl: (Kansas State vs. Rutgers) Notes: A triple overtime loss to West Virginia kept Rutgers out of the Orange Bowl this year, but nonetheless, they've gone 10-2 this season. The exclamation mark of Kansas State's season was a 45-42 upset of then-No. 4 Texas on Nov. 11, ending the Longhorns' hopes of repeating as national champions.

I'm taking the Cowboys, Bears, and the Scarlet Knights today.

It's about time for some descent bowls.
