The Beavers finished out the Oregon Rain Invitational on a good note, beating Cal Poly 78-65 on Sunday night.
Marcel Jones had 21 points for the Beavers, and Sasa Cuic added 20. Josh Tarver had 13. Leading all scores was Cal Poly guard Dawin Whiten.
The Beavers led 40-30 at the half, but Cal Poly came out and scored the first eight points of the second half to close the gap to 40-38. Near the 12 minute mark, the Mustangs took the lead on a basket by Whiten, putting them up 49-48.
After that, Oregon State scored nine straight points, and never let go of the lead from there.
?Three games in less than 48 hours usually dictates subpar performances by both teams and usually it?s a situation where the guys have to overcome the mental exhaustion and push through barriers" OSU Coach Jay John said after the game. "We showed some of our inexperience in the second half and we got to a point where we were feeling sorry for ourselves.?
