Well it had to end sometime, and ended a bit of a good and bad for Darwin has the record but ends up tied at 141 games with Placido Polanco (2007).
Well since we don't have OSU football to follow this weekend here is a bit of baseball news of note! Great stuff!
Yes the Cubbies are not doing all that well overall, but our OSU Alum is playing some awesome defense.
Must C: Catch 8/14/11: Darwin Barney makes a tremendous grab in right to rob Dan Uggla of a hit in the fifth inning
Ok, let's get back to good OSU related baseball news!
Since we are all on a pretty good baseball high right now here is some more neat news about Darwin Barney continuing his excellent MLB play for the Cubs.
"CHICAGO -- Rookie second baseman Darwin Barney will start Friday for the Cubs in the season opener against the Pirates." Darwin went 2 for 4, scored a run, was caught stealing once, and on the fielding side helped turn a double play in the Cubs 6 to 3 loss to the Pirates.
Barney was named along with 28 "all-time greats" to the official College World Series Legends Team. Barney was named as a utility player and was named along such players as Barry Bonds, Dave Winfield, Robin Ventura, and Will Clark. Congrats Darwin! Vote before Friday, April 16th by noon! Pat Casey is nominated under the coach section and Darwin Barney is nominated under the shortstop section. The voting is a bit funky in that you have to vote for more than one in each section, but still some big names all involved and a great honor to get two OSU people nominated.
