Boston wins Game 6 with Jacoby in Center

It feels somewhat strange writing about the Boston Red Sox on a Oregon State Beavers blog, but I feel like that Boston's run in the playoffs is something all of Beaver Nation is paying attention to. If you could care less about baseball, the Red Sox, the Indians, the Rockies, or Jacoby Ellsbury, this will all be over in a few weeks. For now, I will continue to follow Jacoby and the Red Sox throughout the playoffs.

Taking the spot of the struggling Coco Crisp, Jacoby Ellsbury went 1-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored as Boston forced a Game 7 in the ALCS.

Jacoby should of had two hits on the night, but was robbed of at least a double by Cleveland center fielder Grady Sizemore:

Jacoby's hit came in Boston's six-run third ininng. With Lowell on third and Drew on first, Jacoby blooped a single over the head of Jhonny Peralta, Cleveland's shortstop, for an RBI. He then scored from first on a double into the corner hit by Julio Lugo, putting the Red Sox up 8-1.

In the field, Jacoby had a chance to make a play on a ball hit off the center field wall. He wasn't as far back up against the wall as he could have been, and the ball ricocheted off his glove. If I remember correctly, this was the only playable ball hit to Jacoby.

Overall, a positive performance for the Madras native. His performance tonight compared to Coco's in the first five games should make Terry Francona's decision an easy one, but again, we will worry about that tomorrow.

Bottom line: the Red Sox are still playing baseball.
