Baseball Open Thread: OSU vs Portland (Game Two)

Beavs are 2 and 0 this weekend so far with a couple come from behind victories over Utah and Portland yesterday.

Today is the second game against Portland with Tanner Robles pitching for the Beavs and LHP Scott Burris pitching for Portland.

I'm happy we're two and zip for the tournament, but a little disappointed with the overall showing so far.  The Utah game was a good one, but really the Portland win was a bit lucky and a better (and deeper pitching) team would have taken the Beavs to task for the lackluster performance they had.  I realize that Casey and company are trying some new looks and all and it was a long day, but here's to a much more solid overall performance today.

I'll again only be around a little bit, if at all, and realize it is a pretty nice Sunday afternoon (and everyone else is at the game no?), but pop in here if you want to talk up the game a bit!  And let's also hope that SBN people have the site fixed up so it doesn't go down on us again!

Go Beavs!

Baseball Open Thread: OSU vs. Utah Valley (Coca-Cola Classic Game Three)

After a disappointing loss to the Sun Devils (OSU had plenty of opportunities in those last two innings) the Beavs have a chance to bounce back and exact some revenge for an ugly loss to Utah Valley in 2008.  Yes long memories for me, but I remember well the Beavs looked to have the season nicely turned around that year with a great series win over UCLA to then the next game fall to a 17 and 36 team.  Yeah okay so we got revenge pretty much in 2009, but I guess my point is here is hoping the Beavs don't fall asleep today to a team that doesn't seem like a great match up, but one that is still predicted to win their conference.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and the game will be live on Beaver Nation Online, GameTracker, and some selected radio stations.

I have not seen any starting pitching announcements for either team yet.

Talk up today's baseball game here and also be sure to talk about today's important last regular season basketball game here too!

Go Beavs!

Baseball Open Thread: OSU vs. UC Riverside (Coca-Cola Classic Game One)

Another week, another baseball game!

The Beavs open up their Coca-Cola Classic series today against a good UC Riverside (6 - 2) team.

OSU will be starting a freshman with LHP Matt Boyd (1-0, 0.00) going for the Beavs, which should be interesting to see how he responds to his first start (if I'm not mistaken).  UC Riverside will be throwing RHP Matt Andriese (0-0, 8.49) at the Beavs.

Game start time is planned for 3 p.m. and is on Beaver Nation radio and on GameTracker.

I'm one of those at work this afternoon so will be following the game here and there, and maybe will try and pop into the thread when I can.

Go Beavs!

(Oh, and don't forget there is an important basketball game tonight too, so feel free to preview that game here if you want.)

Baseball Open Thread: vs Tennessee, Game 3

In one of the stranger series I can remember for awhile, we have had two games not even close with the Beavs easily winning Friday night and then Tennessee returning the favor yesterday.

What is in store for us today?  Should be interesting to find out.

Today's game starts at 1:00 p.m.   Greg Peavey (0-0, 3.60) will be the Beavs starter this afternoon, and OSU will be going against another good one in Tennessee right-hander Stephen McCray (1-0, 1.69).

I will be going to the game today so not around for this thread, but again feel free to use this thread to talk about the game today.

Go Beavs!

Baseball Open Thread: vs Tennessee, Game 2

Well the Beavs had a pretty spectacular start to this series winning last night 17 to 1.  Here's to hoping that carries over today!

Today's game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.  Tanner Robles (1-0, 5.06) will be OSU's starter and the Beavs will be facing Tennessee left-hander Steven Gruver (0-0, 11.25).

I realize that the basketball game open thread will also be up today, but if you want to talk baseball, or preview your thoughts about the basketball game, you can use this space.  I'll probably only be around a bit here and there, but will be following the baseball game online.  Go Beavs!
