Oregon State senior Travis Eckert was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week after his near-perfect effort at USC Friday night in the Beavers' 3-1 win over the Trojans in the opener of the teams' Pac-12 series.
Eckert recorded his first collegiate career complete game, and allowed only 1 walk and 2 hits, and faced only 1 Trojan batter above the minimum, as the USC runners who got the 9th inning walk and one of the hits were erased by the Beaver defense.
The only real black mark on Eckert's line was the leadoff homerun by Jeremy Martinez in the 5th inning.
It's the second time this season Eckert has been the Conference's Pitcher of the Week, also having been named April 4, after he had delivered a 10-1 win over Washington in his first ever Friday night start.
