Oregon St. will kickoff spring football practice Monday, when everyone is back on campus, fresh from spring break. Head coach Mike Riley conducts one of the later spring practices schedules among major conferences, but prefers to not split the sessions up on both sides of spring break, for continuity sake, and also likes to avoid the conflict and division of focus that finals week, and the end of term week that preceeds it.
The Beavers will practice Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for 4 weeks, and then the Monday and Wednesday of the last week in April, and wrap up spring ball with the Spring Showcase on Saturday, May 3. Events begin at 10 AM, with the player autograph session at 10:45 AM, and the game/scrimmage-like activities in Reser, which will be televised on the Pac-12 Channel, starting at 1 AM.
All weekday practices will begin at 10 AM, an hour earlier than spring and regular practices have been recently, and run until noon. All sessions are open to the public.
Here's the schedule laid out by dates:
Week 1: March 31; April 2, 4 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Week 2: April 7, 9, 11 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Week 3: April 14, 16, 18 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Week 4: April 21, 23, 25 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Week 5: April 28, 30 (Monday, Wednesday)
Buildingthedam will delve into the stories of the season, which include the impact and role of new Offensive Coordinator John Garrett, as well as taking a look at position groups, and lineup changes (How does Oregon St. move on after the departure of not only Brandin Cooks, but also Scott Crichton, and others?), over the course of the spring practices.
