The Pac-12 baseball coaches have picked Oregon St. and Oregon to finish 1-2 in the conference this spring. The announcement comes, ironically, on a day when there is a half-foot of snow in Goss Stadium, and about as much in PK Park.
Oregon St. received 9 of a possible 10 first place votes, and all but 2 of a possible 100 points in the pre-season poll of the conference coaches. Oregon and UCLA received the other 2 votes, 1 of which was from Coach Pat Casey, as coaches can not vote for their own team. Which means either Oregon coach George Horton or UCLA coach John Savage voted for the Beavers, and its not the one that Casey voted as #1.
UCLA, Arizona St., and Arizona, picked to finish 3-4-5, are all no doubt working out today, in anticipation of opening day next Friday.

Stanford and California are picked for 6th and 7th, with Washington St., USC, Washington, and Utah rounding out the order.
Oregon St. begins their quest for a return to Omaha next Friday, when they meet Gonzaga, in a game they two northwest powers will play in Tempe, AZ. Where its about 70 degrees, and not snowing, today.
