We now have some certainty about who will be the line coaches for Oregon St. next year under new coach Gary Andersen. There's not a lot of mystery involved, as both were the widely expected hires for the trenches, and assistants to Andersen at Wisconsin. What was a little unusual was the closest thing to an official announcement comes from the Badgers' Athletic Director, and interim coach for their bowl, Barry Alvarez.
Alvarez confirmed that DL coach Chad Kauha'aha'a & OL coach TJ Woods will be going to Oregon St. after the Badgers' bowl game, the Outback Bowl against Auburn on New Year's Day.
There's still no word on coordinators, but Beaver fans can probably expect to hear something soon about a defensive coordinator, as Andersen's leading candidates hold that same position at Utah St., Todd Orlando, and Utah, Kalani Sitake, and both are playing in bowl games today. As soon as the New Mexico and Las Vegas Bowls are in the books, the full focus for all concerned can immediately become next season.
It's worth noting that Sitake and his assistants on the defensive side of the Ute house were offered extensions this week.
We do know that a lot of the Graduate Assistants at Oregon St. will be back, as Andersen said those that want to return can. That includes Tavita Thompson, Keaton Kristic, Dorian Smith, Kevin Cummings, and Mitch Singler. Yvenson Bernard will not be on the staff, but will be around, as has accepted a fundraising position with the "Our Beaver Nation" program
