Oregon St. concludes their season opening home stand with a game against Oral Roberts University tonight at 6 PM.
The Golden Eagles, from Tulsa, OK, and this year, the Summit League, come to Corvallis off a 78-64 loss at Missouri Wednesday night to start their road trip, which will take them to the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas next week, where the Beavers will also be, for the "MGM Grand Main Event" tournaments. Oral Roberts opened their season with a 77-68 win over cross-town rival Tulsa.
The Beavers are looking to start a season 3-0 for the second time in 3 years, but also just the second time since the 2000-01 season, after their 67-54 win over Rice last Friday, and then an 86-62 win Tuesday night over Corban.
It's the 3rd meeting ever between the teams. Oregon St. won the first meeting, and the only other meeting in Gill Coliseum, with a
Oral Roberts took the first meeting, in the 1976 Far West Classic in Portland, with 77-68 a win over Oregon St.
The Beavers evened the series with a112-87 win in Corvallis in 1991.
The Golden Eagles are led by 6'3" junior Obi Emegano, who had 38 points against Tulsa, and 27 vs. Missouri. Emegano also averages 5 RBs and 2 assists per game, and that's consistent with his production last year.
There other main weapon is Korey Billbury. a 6'3" junior who already has 21 rebounds, and averages 13 points per game.
Oral Roberts has moved "up" to the Summit League this year, after finishing 17-16 last year, 6th in the Southland Conference.
