BTD's EA Sports Heisman Challenge

EA Sports' NCAA 13 has the great "Heisman Mode" where players can put any former Heisman Trophy winner on any other team to see how it would work, or in some cases, if maybe it wouldn't have worked out so well (think mis-match of player vs. team style.

SB Nation's Dan Rubenstein, an admitted Oregon "Fan Boy", tried that out to see how well Robert Griffin III, Carson Palmer, and even Doug Fluttie would do as the Ducks' trigger man.

It's an admittedly absurd idea, but as all Beaver fans know, all things Duck are absurd by definition. But it's still fun, and can be informative.

One thing that would be nice would be the inclusion of all the former Heisman Finalsts. It would be great fun to see if, say LaMichael James, Kellen Moore, or Alex Smith really would have won had they played for an SEC team, or USC.

But we still have 42 days until Oregon St. kicks off against Nicholls St., and 40 days before the 2012 season starts. 40 days when BTD readers who are gamers can utilize EA Sports' NCAA 13 to do some summer simulating, and find an advantage in BTD's Heisman Challenge.

Buildingthedam.com will honor the reader who submits the best 3-player projected Heisman ballot (submit your #1,, #2, and #3, just like the way the real Heisman balloting works) before the season starts, relative to how things actually play out (the winner is the one whose' choices' come closest to what those players actually earn) come the end of the season, with a front page fan post, where you can write about whatever you want (within reason, we don't want the site shut down!).

You can boast about how you beat Sergey! Or you can punk Connor, when your simulation uncovers that hidden gem that his days of pouring over stats and watching game video missed! You can even out-do fanoverboard in going overboard on him!

Or you can incite a flame war with the ATQ crew if you like! (Consider it a public service to the DawgPound guys, who suffered the last Quack attack!)

You can even use your proven greatness to state your case why you should be Coach Mike RIley's next recruiting coordinator AND offensive coordinator!

But you have to get your picks posted in the comments by Aug. 30, when the season starts.

After all, it gets a LOT easier to eliminate a front runner AFTER USC's Matt Barkley suffers a season ending shoulder injury leading the Trojan band with Tommy Trojan's heavy sword after over-exerting himself throwing for 567 yards and 5 touchdowns against Syracuse, or to pick that completely off the radar dark horse AFTER Boise St.'s Joe Southwick lights up Michigan St. for 603 yards an 6 touchdowns in the Broncos' 70-52 shocker over the Spartans that has even Boise St. fans saying "Kellen who?"

And if you think those things CAN'T happen, EA Sports' NCAA 13 can prove it CAN. (At least in fantasy gaming land!)

Good Luck and Good Gaming!
