The Beavers won 11 games in 2000 and 10 games in 2006. These are the only two years that the Beavers have had double digit victory totals.
The Beavers are currently 8-2 with two regular season games and a bowl game remaining. The Nicholls State game seems like a likely win for the Beavers. So a win in the Civil War and/or the bowl game would lock up the double digit win total for a third time in history.
All of this in a season where the Beavers were picked in the pre-season polls to be last in the Pac 12 North. All this in a season when most of the players will be back for more next year. The Beavers will have two quarterbacks with experience starting games next year.
Of course, a win in the Civil War game makes for an interesting shake-up in the bowl picture. If it was coupled with a USC victory against Notre Dame and four total losses for either Stanford or UCLA, the Beavers might be able to make a BCS bowl game. Hard to predict what will happen.
The best strategy is to keep winning and worry about the bowl picture later.
