Oregon St. won over a verbal commit this past weekend, when Damien Haskins, a running back from New Boston High in New Boston, Texas, who was initially committed to Memphis, changed his mind after visiting Saturday.

The Blackout atmosphere and the 21-7 win over Utah was the kind of exciting environment head coach Mike Riley has described as special, and an advantage in recruiting.

Haskins, who is 5'9" and 213 lbs., has run a 4.4 40 time, and rushed for 28 touchdowns and over 1,800 yards so far this season. Here's a highlight video from earlier this fall:

Haskins is rated a 2 star recruit by both Scout.com and Rivals.com. He is the only running back in the 9 commits the Beavers have so far for the 2013 class.
