Pac-10 Baseball: Connor Predicts What Will Happen in Week Twelve

Not a bad week for me as I correctly picked six records and missed four of them. The Arizona-USC series was the real killer as I had the Wildcats taking two of three from the Trojans. Instead, Arizona swept USC and accounted for half of my losses this weekend.

In the Pac-10, the Beavers remained on top of the standings despite dropping a game to the UCLA Bruins on Sunday. In Tempe over the weekend, the Sun Devils held onto 2nd Place after taking two of three from the visiting Stanford Cardinal

Now we enter a new week, with the marquee series being California @ Oregon State.

In case you missed our first posts, I'll be predicting every Thursday-Monday Pac-10 game throughout the season, and I'll keep the records of everyone who joins in at the comments section.

So, here's my Week 12 picks.

Washington (Friday-Sunday, @ Stanford)

Prediction : 0-3

This is a huge series for the Cardinal, and the visiting Washington Huskies would love to spoil it. Anything less than a sweep would most likely move the Cardinal to the wrong side of the bubble, but I think Stanford buckles down and takes care of the Dawgs.

Washington State (Friday-Sunday, UNLV, Monday, @ Portland)

Prediction : 2-2

I'm putting the Cougars on upset alert with the Runnin Rebels coming into Pullman. UNLV is a dangerous club, and they will be easily overlooked by a Washington State team with not much to play for. I think the Rebels, who already have wins over TCU and UC Irvine to their credit this season, take two of three from the Cougars. Washington State should be able to salvage the weekend with a win on the Bluff against the Pilots on Monday, if only because Portland hasn't played in just under two weeks.

Oregon (Friday-Sunday, UCLA)

Prediction : 1-2

The Ducks seem to finally be hitting their stride, but they will need to sweep the visiting Bruins this weekend to keep their tournament hopes alive. I think Oregon rides their momentum for a Friday night victory, but the Bruins pitching staff should carry them through the rest of the weekend and win the series for UCLA.

Oregon State (Friday-Sunday, California)

Prediction: 2-1

The Beavers haven't struggled as much as they have recently since the first weekend of the season, so this series is absolutely huge for them. I think Sam Gaviglio and Josh Osich pitch great games on Friday and Saturday to propel the Beavers to victory, but the Golden Bears should be able to get the Sunday game.

California (Friday-Sunday, @ Oregon State)

Prediction: 1-2

More predictions after the break

Stanford (Friday-Sunday, Washington, Monday, @ Pacific)

Prediction: 4-0

Like I said above, the Huskies would ove to spoil Stanford's weekend, but I think the Cardinal are going to buckle down and sweep the Dawgs. With every game crucial down the stretch, Stanford can't afford to overlook the Tigers on Monday either. Pacific should put up a fight, but I think Stanford gets out of the trap weekend with a 4-0 record.

UCLA (Friday-Sunday, @ Oregon)

Prediction: 2-1

Like I said above, I think that Oregon takes game one of the series with a struggling Gerrit Cole on the mound, but Trevor Bauer and Adam Plutko should be able to fool a weak hitting team in Oregon on Saturday and Sunday.

Arizona (Friday-Sunday, Alcorn State)

Prediction: 3-0

An interesting move by Arizona to schedule these three games right in the heart of Pac-10 play, but the Wildcats should easily handle the visiting Braves.

Arizona State (Friday-Sunday, Long Beach State)

Prediction: 3-0

This is a dialed-in Sun Devil team and I can't see them dropping a game to the struggling 49ers.

Record (Either a win, loss, or tie, based on correctly predicting that team's record for the weekend): 45-51-11, Goal: 69-67-11
