Barney gets Cubs' Opening Day nod at second
"CHICAGO -- Rookie second baseman Darwin Barney will start Friday for the Cubs in the season opener against the Pirates."
Darwin went 2 for 4, scored a run, was caught stealing once, and on the fielding side helped turn a double play in the Cubs 6 to 3 loss to the Pirates.

I had never even heard of him
So I was eager to drop him.
By the way, Barney didn’t even play today! I could have played Furcal instead.
Go Beavers!
Yes, they are going with a platoon system
Where they have two players at one position rotating starting, in most cases it is a righty and lefty in order to mess around with match ups, but for some reason the Cubs are going with a different “platoon” system at second (and in the outfield) which to me sounds just more like they are unsure of who to go with and are putting it out there to the guys to win the starting job.
