The Southeast and West Regionals of the NCAA Tournament play out this afternoon on CBS.
Tournament resident Cinderella Butler (26-9), who came within a shot of winning it all last year, is back in the hunt for another trip to the final four. The Bulldogs will take on SEC champion Florida (29-7) at 1:30 PDT in the Southeast Regional in New Orleans. The Gators, who won back to back titles in 2006 and 2007 would love another shot at a title as well.
Matt Howard leads the Bulldogs, who have won a dozen straight games, while the Gators depend on getting balanced production out of their five starters, who all play a large percentage of minutes.
Arizona (30-7), the Pac-10's lone team to advance past opening weekend, plays at 4:05 PDT in Anaheim, and being in the West Regional means there will be plenty of residents of the 'Zona Zoo in attendance. The Wildcats, somewhat of a Cinderella themselves, having had to pull two games out with last minute miracles, and then defeat defending National Champion Duke, are up against Connecticut (29-9). The Huskies fit the definition of Cinderella as well, having essentially won 8 consecutive elimination games, including 5 in 5 days in the Big East Tournament, to claim an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
This game is a showcase of two of the top players in the country, in the 'Cats Derrick Williams and the Huskies Kemba Walker.
