Oregon State (3-3) vs Indiana (3-2) - 9:00 AM (PST) - Whataburger Field, Corpus Christi, TX - Live Video on the Blue Zone, for a fee
Oregon State and Indiana meet at 9:00 AM west coast time this morning in Corpus Christi to close out the Kleberg Bank College Classic. A Hoosiers victory would make them the de facto champions of the first ever tournament.
The Beavers come into this game with a 1-1 record in the tournament. Oregon State opened play on Friday with a 2-0 win against Connecticut, but lost a 8-7 heartbreaker against the host Islanders yesterday.
The Hoosiers (3-2) of the Big Ten Conference began their season at the Caravelle Resort Invitational, where they went 1-2. Their wins have came against Coastal Carolina, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and Connecticut. Their losses have been to Virginia Tech and Boston College.
The Beavers will send left hander Cam Booser, who is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA. The Hoosiers will counter with lefty Joey DeNato (0-1, 5.40), who took the loss in Indiana's 6-1 defeat last Saturday against Boston College.
In Booser's first start as a Beaver last Sunday against Fresno State, Cam gave up a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings before getting pulled. The Beavers eventually cut the Bulldog lead to 2-1, but Fresno's pitching held off a late run by the Beavers. Booser struck out four and walked three in that first game.
DeNato's opener was a rough one, giving up four runs on seven hits in just 3.1 innings against a now 2-3 Boston College team.
Last year, Indiana went 28-27, and was knocked out of the Big Ten Tournament after losses against Minnesota and Purdue.
Whataburger Field is the off and on home of the Texas A&M Corpus Chriisti team, and is also the home of Corpus Christi AA affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Oregon State will wrap up the weekend trip Monday with a stopover in San Antonio, for a single game against University of Texas San-Antonio.
Go Beavers!
