Oregon St. coach Mike Riley announced today that WR James Rodgers "appears to be fine". Riley explained that Rodgers won't practice today, and possibly not tomorrow, at least as far as physical activity is concerned.
"But he will be out there, learning. If everything continues to go as expected, he will practice Thursday and Friday, and be ready on Saturday. This could even be good for his legs."
Linebacker Dwight Roberson is officially out for this week, with a strained knee, according to Riley's update.
"We hope he will be able to be back out practicing by this time next week," Riley said.
Keo Camat, Cameron Collins, and Devin Unga will all be in the 'committee' to fill in for Roberson at the weak side linebacker spot.
DE Taylor Henry will practice today, and appears to be ok after experiencing a bruised back in the Boise St. game.
Kick Returns Could Look Different
Riley did note that depending on how Rodgers progresses, he may not be used on kick returns, however, and the Beavers will be very careful with him. In the event that Oregon St. doesn't use Rodgers at what he does best, but would be at risk of the greatest collisions, Riley said Marcus Wheaton would join Jordan Poyer on kick off returns, and Kevan Walker and Poyer would handle punts.
