Pac-10 Media Day: Riley and Jacquizz Rodgers at 11:45am PT
If you've followed the Pac-10 conference during the summer over the last several years, you'll be familiar with today's events. The ten Pac-10 coaches will field questions from reporters and fans, a media poll will be released, and a more intense countdown to college football kickoff will begin.
But this year, under new Pac-10 Commishiner Larry Scott, things have been different. The ten coaches are fresh off a trip on the East Coast, where they tried to earn respect and make a small step towards reversing the ever-present "east-coast bias." This trip included a press conference in New York to revel the new Pac-10 branding, as well as a stop in Bristol yesterday at the ESPN campus for media appearances and interviews.
Today's press conference kicks off at 9am from the Rose Bowl, where Dave Hirsch and Larry Scott will speak, proceded by the ten coaches and a player from each team.
Here is the schedule:
9:00 am - Steve Physoic / 9:30 am - Introduction - Dave Hirsch / 9:35 am - Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott / 9:45 am - Paul Wulff/DE Kevin Kooyman - Washington State / 10:00 am - Dennis Erickson/PK Thomas Weber - Arizona State / 10:15 am - Rick Neuheisel/FS Rahim Moore - UCLA / 10:30 am - Steve Sarkisian/LB Mason Foster - Washington / 10:45 am - Jeff Tedford/LB Mike Mohamed - California / 11:00 am - Break / 11:15 am - Lane Kiffin/QB Matt Barkley - USC / 11:30 am - Jim Harbaugh/LB, FB Owen Marecic - Stanford / 11:45 am - Mike Riley/RB Jacquizz Rodgers - Oregon State / 12 noon - Mike Stoops/QB Nick Foles - Arizona / 12:15 pm - Chip Kelly/DT Brandon Bair - Oregon
Check back when the conference begins and join in the conversation!

It was disappointing that with so many changes,
and a whole new look, there wasn’t more work put into testing, and the inclusion of more people in shaking things out.
Part of that can be attributed to wanting to keep the new look a surprise, to get the “Wow” effect that would be spoiled if too many saw the new stuff. Well, they got the “Wow” effect, just the wrong one.

Riley opposed to North/South for alignment
He cites and recalls the days of the NorPac baseball arrangement, where you could win it year in and year out and not get any respect for that.
I’m just as unsure about the zipper approach, but what Riley clearly points out is the lesson of history, something that will have to be addressed.
