The long NCAA investigation into USC is (finally) set to lead to an announcement today of the official sanctions the Trojans will face. For football, the issues primarily swirls around controversy about the circumstances with Reggie Bush.
Early word is the Trojans will face a two year ban from bowls (which might signal why USC, like Alabama did when they were facing a similar ban, schedule a trip to Hawaii), and the loss of 20+ scholarships.
Bush is also expected to be ruled ineligible in 2004 & 2005, and as a result, USC could be looking at losing wins, and as a result, a national title.
An appeal is certainly possible, but that represents a strategic decision by USC as to when might be the best time to serve a suspension, and when the best time to take some number of hits on scholarships.
