Championship Week Preview: Day 1

People who want the NCAA Tournament expanded? This week is for you. Today begins the seven day stretch of "Championship Week", when every team in the nation has a shot at going dancing by winning their Conference Tournament. Over the next seven days, BTD will have a preview for each day of action. We will focus on around five games each day, sometimes more, sometimes less, do a short preview of it, and then I will make my prediction. You guys are welcome to make your picks in the Comments Section if you like.

So, are you ready for the Madness of March. Because ready or not, here it comes.

Picks for Day 1 (Record 0-0)

MAAC Tournament Chapionship Game: Fairfield vs Siena, 4:00 PM Pacific, ESPN2

The favorites have made their way through the bracket in this game, matching #1 Siena against #2 Fairfield. Siena's past experience of the NCAA Tournament will help them in this one. Prediction: Siena Saints

Colonial Tournament Championship Game: William & Mary vs Old Dominion, 4:00 PM Pacific, ESPN

William & Mary will be flying high after upseting 2nd Seeded Northeastern in the Semifinals, but I'm going with the favorite Old Dominion. Prediction: Old Dominion Monarchs

Southern Tournament Championship Game: Appalachian State vs Wofford, 6:00 PM, Pacific, ESPN2

It's the battle of the Number One Seeds in this game, with Wofford representing the South and Appalachian State representing the North. I don't know a lot about these teams, but I like Wofford. Prediction: Wofford Terriers

West Coast Tournament Championship Game: Saint Mary's vs Gonzaga, 6:30 PM Pacific, ESPN

Both teams have only played one game in the tournament, so fatigue shouldn't be a factor. Saint Mary's wouldn't be a bad pick if you're looking for an upset, but I'm going with the more experienced and talented Zags. Prediction: Gonzaga Bulldogs
