Baseball Open Thread: OSU vs. UC Riverside (Coca-Cola Classic Game One)

PrintAnother week, another baseball game!
The Beavs open up their Coca-Cola Classic series today against a good UC Riverside (6 - 2) team.
OSU will be starting a freshman with LHP Matt Boyd (1-0, 0.00) going for the Beavs, which should be interesting to see how he responds to his first start (if I'm not mistaken). UC Riverside will be throwing RHP Matt Andriese (0-0, 8.49) at the Beavs.
Game start time is planned for 3 p.m. and is on Beaver Nation radio and on GameTracker.
I'm one of those at work this afternoon so will be following the game here and there, and maybe will try and pop into the thread when I can.

(Oh, and don't forget there is an important basketball game tonight too, so feel free to preview that game here if you want.)

What happened with that bunt?
And are you serious that our freshman pitcher is the clean up hitter and just ripped a two run shot?

Damn, that still is impressive if he isn’t a freshman, but he is listed as a FR so even more so.

After two innings OSU 4 - UCR 0
Boyd has 3 Ks so far and the Beavs scored on 2 hits and a couple UCR pass-balls/wild pitches helped the cause.
I’m on the GameTracker so the Sac bunt was confusing, it said Jennette scored two on a sac bunt to pitcher but no idea how that went down (weird).

Sure, they always are, but OSU is pretty good this year too
This early though it might be tough with the experience levels a bit uneven with players and to their advantage.
But we can beat them. Will we? Maybe, maybe not, but we can. That’s what I’m saying.

ASU is good.
But OSU’s coming on… they have a long way to go still but I think this season’s started off nicely. I have high hopes for a PAC 10 title and a trip to lovely Omaha, Neb.
Okay, have to focus on work so I can get out of here at 5:00
