Breaking News: UofO running back James will change his plea

EUGENE, Ore. -- University of Oregon star running back LaMichael James is scheduled to appear in court Friday for a change of plea hearing and sentencing, according to court records.

Springfield police arrested James on Feb. 17 on suspicion of strangulation, fourth degree assault and menacing.

James pleaded not guilty to the five misdemeanor counts and spent a night in jail before being released on house arrest.

His 22-year-old accuser told police the incident happened on Feb. 15 after 7 p.m. outside the Gateway Street apartment where James lives. She told police she went to the apartment, there was an altercation and that James put his hands on her throat.

She did not report the incident to police until 7:45 p.m. Feb 16.

Police later arrested James at a Kinsrow Avenue apartment complex and booked him into the Lane County Jail.

James, who set a new rushing record for a freshman at the UO, was also named the Pac-10 Offensive Freshman of the Year by the league. He shared team honors for Most Outstanding Player with quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.

Any chance we can keep these OFF the front page?

I’m all for side bar, FanPost stuff, but front paging the whole LMJ thing is wearing me out. I could really care less at this point.

The only running back from Texas I want to read about is this guy:

Just sayin’…

by ArbyOSU on Mar 10, 2010 1:29 PM PST reply actions

And this post again raises the question: Who or what is a Noghri_ViR?

by ArbyOSU on Mar 10, 2010 2:12 PM PST up reply actions

As long as he's punking people like this (below) I don't care where that dude lines up.

But yes, I’d rather hear about either Rodgers brother than the ducks off the field troubles. It’s fine to post about it here in the blog, but can we all agree that it’s pretty lame having our two leading stories for the day being virtually the same weak ass shit?!

I think I’ll create a FanPost where people can go to read/post updates about the Eugene Strangler and all the other crap going on down there…

GO BEAVERS!

"Couldn't" care less

is what I think you mean.

Guys, you just don’t get it. That girl disrespected him! Or something.

by Joe A. on Mar 10, 2010 1:57 PM PST reply actions

You're right.

But still, I think I might actually be able to care a little less every time I see it posted on BtD.

by ArbyOSU on Mar 10, 2010 2:11 PM PST up reply actions

Well you can argue since it’s all over the rest of the other Oregon State related blogs, fanboards and has been mentioned on various radio programs that it is news. But if you guys don’t want this stuff reported I suppose we don’t have to.

by Noghri_ViR on Mar 10, 2010 2:52 PM PST reply actions

It's redundant. You outlined EXACTLY why it shouldn't be front page.

Here’s a good rule of thumb for posting stuff to the front page and again, just my opinion:

1. Does it involve OSU athletics?
2. Does it involve the PAC 10 as a whole?

No? Sounds like what you have on your hands is a FanShot for the sidebar.

So should we not report that Masoli is going to be charged?

Sure, but missing the point a bit also

What ArbyOSU and I are tired of is seeing these UO related postings on the OSU sports blog’s front page.

We feel that these would be better served in the Fanpost area and lets have OSU sports highlighted on our front page.

Wow

I did not expect that. Can’t say that I’m happy he commited a crime, but I am happy that he might miss some game time.

The fact that no one ever came out and said, “No charges,” made me skeptical. He has a record too, so that could be big off the field. At least he is just accused of taking stuff and not choking or hitting people.

This just in from the "Not Again!" Department

“When contacted for comment, University of Oregon athletic department spokesman Andy McNamara said, ‘We don’t have any comment on this time.’”

Presumably because all the good comments have already been used up from the other times.

by Joe A. on Mar 10, 2010 3:34 PM PST reply actions

Or because they aren’t technically allowed to comment until rulings for most legal issues.

I know that.

I’m not daft. I’m a grammar cop.

Ah. I didn’t even see the grammar/mistake the first time.
Heh.

Alright you guys win, but I can’t figure out how to move this over to the fanshot section, so it’s going to stay here until I figure it out.

by Noghri_ViR on Mar 10, 2010 3:53 PM PST reply actions

Yes, this won’t move now, sorry to not mention that we were thinking of for the future.

What you can do is always start it as a Fanpost or Fanshot then if it seems really front page worthy by you or others just check off the box at the bottom for Front Page and it pushes it out to the front page.

I think what got me mostly this time around is we have TWO posts about the same exact topic on the top of the front page, but has seemed like a lot on the front page of late overall.

Yes.

Looking forward, we should always make sure to keep that front page relevant to those seeking information about the Beavs.

Can we have MR. BOWMEN 2010 weigh in on this?

by ArbyOSU on Mar 10, 2010 4:32 PM PST up reply actions

Is that his new name now?

We should definitely call him that.
