Greg Peavey Gets Honors

PrintOregon State junior pitcher Greg Peavey was named the Pac-10 Conference's Pitcher of the Week, and the USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Spotlight Player of the Week after throwing a complete game shutout win Sunday. Peavey's nine strikeout three hitter led the Beavers to a 1-0 victory over Tennessee at Goss Stadium Sunday.

That Peavey’s performance cannot be overstated. He was in full control of his stuff for almost all game. When he got out of rhythm later in the game he did something that is VERY difficult and recovered and refocused his throwing zone. His misses overall were almost all placement pitches and a lot of the time ahead of the count pitches.
Also, to do this within a high pressure defensive game that could have gone the other way by any minor loss of pitching focus made this even more impressive.
This was a leadership type of performance and here’s to much much more of this all season long.
