Game 5 Preview - Oregon State @ Howard

OSU @ Howard - 1:00 PM - Burr Gymnasium - Radio on KKAD 1550

The Beavers come into Washington DC with a record of 2-2 after defeating Charlotte on Wednesday night, 83-70. Their only other victory came against UT-Arlington, and their two losses were against Seattle University and Texas Southern.

Against the 49ers, the Beavers took a nine point lead into Halftime and never looked back. Four Oregon State players scored in double figures, while the defense forced 19 Charlotte turnovers in the 13 point victory. The bright spot of the day was Senior Calvin Haynes, who recorded 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal. Senior Omari Johnson added 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Howard comes into the game with a record of 1-4, defeating Bowling Green and losing to Purdue, Delaware, St. Francis (N.Y.), and American. Mike Phillips leads the Bison in scoring and rebounding. In Howard's last game, Phillips and Dadrian Collins lead the Bison with 11 points each in their 66-54 loss against American. David Naves added 9 points along with 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

The Bison's biggest test was on November 14th when they took on Purdue in West Lafayette. Howard hung with the 14th Ranked Boilermakers early on, even leading 12-10 with 12:30 to play in the 1st Half. But Purdue then went on a 16-2 run, ruining any hopes of an upset. Alphonso Leary led the Bison with 10 points.

Remember, tip-off is set for 1:00 PM at Burr Gymnasium.
