Game 4 Open Thread: Charlotte

OSU vs Charlotte - 7:00 PM - Gill Coliseum - FSN NW

The Beavers continue their mini two-game homestand tonight in Corvallis against Charlotte. The Beavers are coming off a 66-60 loss against Texas Southern last Sunday.

The Beavers lead by as many as 9 in the 1st Half against the Tigers, but TSU mounted a huge comeback and ended up holding on for the victory. Omari Johnson and Calvin Haynes led the Beavers with 13 points.

As far as starters go for today, expect more of the same from the Beavers. That means Joe Burton and Omari Johnson getting the start down low, with Jared Cunningham, Calvin Haynes, and Lathen Wallace in the backcourt.

Just like Seattle University and Texas Southern, expect the Charlotte 49ers to come out loose and excited to play in a Pac-10 gym. "Absolutely they were, said head coach Craig Robinson about the loose play from SU and TSU. I've been a coach in that situation when you're playing a big conference team and playing them on the road; you expect them to be better than you so you have this sense of calm about you."

But as we learned from David Scott of The Gold Mine earlier this week, the 49ers have already been in some big games this season, including the four day Charleston Classic Tournament.

Charlotte, a Division I member of the Atlantic-10, is currently 2-3 on the season.

Charlotte lost to Gardner Webb in the season opener by the score of 78-70, but followed up with a 90-81 victory over South Carolina State. Then it was off to the Charleston Classic, where the 49ers lost 78-56 against George Mason, beat East Carolina 74-63, and lost to Coastal Carolina 79-75 in Double Overtime.

Remember, tip-off is at 7:00 PM on FSN NW.

Go Beavers!
