OSU vs Texas Southern - 4:30 PM - Gill Coliseum - Radio on KPAM 860
The Beavers return to Corvallis this afternoon for the Nike N7 Game against Texas Southern. The Beavers are coming off a 83-80 loss against Seattle University last Wednesday.
The Beavers lead by as much as 12 in the 2nd Half against the Redhawks, but SU mounted a huge comeback and ended up on top. Jared Cunningham led the Beavers with 19 points.
As far as starters go for today, expect more of the same from the Beavers. That means Joe Burton and Omari Johnson getting the start down low, with Jared Cunningham, Calvin Haynes, and Lathen Wallace in the backcourt.
"We are very excited to be partnered with Nike on such a great initiative and a great cause to get athletics to Native Americans and Aboriginal youths who don't have access to athletics and all of the wonderful things that athletics brings to the table, said head coach Craig Robinson about today's Nike N7 Game. We want to win the game. We have to be focused on the game. But we are really excited to be one of the first people to bring awareness to this issue."
Texas Southern, a Division I member of the SWAC, is currently 0-3 on the season.
TSU has lost to Drake by the score of 60-46, Wichita State, 79-67, and Oklahoma by a final score of 82-52. Kevin Galloway leads the Tigers with 15.7 PPG, while Lawrence Johnson-Danner averages 14.3.
Remember, tip-off is at 4:30 PM and Mike Parker will have the call on KPAM 860.
