Do you think it would mess you up mentally if I told you you were going to have a scholarship?
Damola Adeniji didn't have an answer right away when Mike Riley asked the question.
The Oregonian's Paul Buker, with an assist from the Register-Guard's Bob Clark, have a great story on South Eugene graduate Adeniji, who persevered until late last week, when offensive lineman Brent McNeil's decision to quit the Beavers turned into a scholarship for Adeniji for his senior season.

Given the Beavers' track record with walk-ons,
I think some modification to the training table policy is in order. Without the walk-ons, the Beavers aren’t winning as many games in recent years, and the fan support and sweatshirt sales aren’t as good.
That isn’t an NCAA rule, but though it is a budgetary issue, it might be time to take another look at a long-time tradition that isn’t in sync with how the Beavers operate.

Go Beavs!
What a great story
I think he’s poised for a great year. Especially now that he’s off the frezze dried Top Ramen and Macaroni and Cheese diet.

Kudos to Riley!
This is just another in a long list of great “walk on” stories Riley has produced. He consistently takes guys that no one wants and turns them into impact players. It’s great to hear Adeniji got himself a scholarship.
It bugs me to hear they can’t assist all athletes with some food assistance at the very least. Expecting a kid to perform in the classroom and on the field without proper diet is a little dangerous. I mean crap, pony up for some grilled cheese, spaghetti and meatloaf. That’s all cheap stuff and can feed a big group… I know we’re hard up but really, come on now…
As a former Southie...
I can’t help but root for this young man. It’s admirable what the Beavers sometimes are able to get out of players that were not highly regarded as D-1 guys. Makes me wonder when people across the country – and even some of my quacker pals – are going to quit understating OSU’s talent and depth. Get a win in Vegas!
