Beavers 24th in Coaches' Poll, 28 in the AP

Oregon State is 24th. in this week's Coaches Poll, right where they were last week, but slid down from the top of the list of those outside the AP top 25 to the third slot, or the 28th. spot overall.

This week's opponent, the Cincinnati Bearcats, used their 70-3 home win over Southeast Missouri State to climb two spots, to #21 in the coaches poll. The win impressed the writers more, as the AP voters valuted the Bearcats six spots to #17.

USC held onto third place in both polls after their 18-15 win at Ohio St., which dropped the Buckeyes just out of the top ten.

Cal, the only other ranked Pac-10 team, used their 59-7 romp over Eastern Washington, and Ohio State's fall, to climb from tenth in both polls to eighth in the Associate Press, and seventh in the Coaches' Poll.

UCLA and Oregon both received votes in both polls, and Boise St., the only other ranked near-west coast team, broke into the top 10 in both polls, after being 12th. in the AP & 11 in the Coaches' polls last week

CFB News has it’s up-to-the-minute bowl projections out
…sadly, they have us headed to El Paso (you’ve gotta be effing with me here!) and the ducks to the Emerald and USC playing in the championship game.

Hopefully improve upon this and dodge El Paso for something a little nicer.

Oh, believe me, I know it’s early. I own a calendar.

I think these are always fun to look at though (NOT the calendar, the in-season predictions and rankings… not that there’s anything wrong with that…).

my eyes!!!

I thought we were friends, you’ve destroyed me here…

I know, but just didn’t want you freaking out too much. One game at a time!

You need to work on your calendar selection

There are calendars available that are fun to look at.

Apparently that one’s pretty fun to look at if you’re an opposing DL.

I'm prety sure

That the Sun Bowl has a no repeat clause. Isn’t that the reason why the Ducks went to the Sun Bowl in 2007 and we went to the Emerald Bowl?

Yep.

Precisely. And some of their fans like to pretend that means they had the better season.

Non-conference games and BCS bids

If the Pac-10 collectively has a strong non-conference record, it will do wonders for getting a second BCS bid for the Pac-10. If OSU, Cal, USC and UCLA complete undefeated non-conference seasons, then everyone’s strength of schedule gets better.

If, by some miracle, Arizona State were to beat Georgia, wow.

Root for Pac-10 wins this week. It will help get a second BCS bowl bid.

Of course, a Beaver win over Cincy will help our rankings as well. Go Beavs!

Odds on Cincy game

In my local paper, they show the odds on various college football games. This week they list the Beavers as 1 1/2 point favorites to beat Cincy. Basically, that is an even game. Still the Beavers are favored to beat a ranked team. That is a little bit of respect.

The fact that it's at Reser

I think makes all the difference in the world.
