Welcome to the NFL, Andy Levitre!

Ex-Beaver Andy Levitre got the start at left guard for the Buffalo Bills in the 2009 Hall of Fame game, against the Tennessee Titans, a game which also featured Terrell Owens' first appearance with the Bills.

(For the record, and to fulfill one of the rules of journalism, which requires a certain amount of T.O. coverage, Owens caught the first two passes thrown to him.)

After some good blocks initially, Levitre was driven back into quarterback Trent Edwards by the Titans' Kevin Vickerson, causing an errant throw, intercepted by Michael Griffin, which ended Buffalo's second drive. The play was labeled by NBC Analyst Cris Collinsworth as Levitre's "Welcome to the NFL moment."

Being new to the Bills and his position, as were most of Buffalo's offensive linemen, Levitre saw a lot of action for a starter in an early preseason game, playing well into the second half. Levitre was downfield looking for secondary blocks on several occasions.

Another ex-Beaver, linebacker Keith Ellison, who is starting his fourth year with the Bills, also started. The Titans were rather left-handed with their play direction tendencies, going away from Ellison, and limiting his screen time, in the early series before the Buffalo starters gave way to reserves.

Levitre was also the lead blocker downfield late in the second quarter on a screen play, demonstrating some of the speed that the Bills are counting on with their no-huddle offense. The play led to a Bills' field goal as time ran out, though it still left Buffalo down 21-6 at halftime.

The Bills added a field goal in the third quarter, and then a touchdown on an interception, in the fourth period, pulling within 21-16. Tennessee took an intentional safety on the final play of the game, and won 21-18.
