Jacoby Sets Red Sox Record

Former Oregon State Beaver Jacoby Ellsbury stole third base in the first inning for the Boston Red Sox against the Chicago White Sox, giving him 55 steals for the season. That's more than any Red Sox player has ever stolen in a single season, and the Red Sox's history dates back to 1901.

Ellsbury's steal set up his scoring on a sacrifice, giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead, and also broke the 26 year old record set by Tommy Harper in 1973. The steal also raises Ellsbury career steal total to 114.
