Seriously, Connor?
That is the worst ranking of teams I have ever seen. ASU as a good team? How? Oregon as an “elite” team, but Cal not? As for the Big 10, how can you put Wisconsin as an elite when they were AWFUL last year (and have gotten progessively worse every year under Brett Bielema) yet, Penn State, which WON the Big 10 last year as just a good team?
And that’s not even including how you could call Oregon State a so-so team, when they have finished as high or higher than both good teams, and an elite team the last few years. I know its your opinion, but I’m almost mad that I read this.
I support Takimoto in his effort to support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.
All bad...
but as bad as having the WAC as the 5th conference in the nation? I think not.

yeah
WAC needs to be 9/10 range…
and only 6 out of 11 conf. have bad teams? I’ve been fairly split on the rest of these but you’re off your rocker.
pac 10 rankings
get real who finished near the top can you say OSU lose the california attitude.
You guys must be unemployed
Because you have way too much time on your hands. ASU!?! Try switching to decaf!
Hold on everyone!
Now personally I’m more in line with Tortuga’s rankings, but let’s crank it down a little bit about Connor’s picks. I think the reactions are getting a bit overboard on the rankings since no one is really offering reasoned counter arguments (I do agree with the WAC needs to go down) and if you have some big disagreements going (and I think there are some to be made!) let’s make Connor defend his picks with some reasoned counter rankings and/or questions about why Connor went the way he did.
Case in point: Wisconsin, now I totally agree that they are not an “elite” team, especially over PSU, but at the same time they were not “AWFUL” last year since they had a winning record, played some pretty close games against ranked conference teams, and did go to a bowl. But are they going to be “elite” this year? I don’t think so for they also showed they couldn’t win the big games and lost some ugly ones, so let’s see why Connor picked them this way. I personally think they are a “so-so” with maybe a chance to be a “good” team, but why put them as an “elite” team?
And I like Tortuga’s Pac-10 for that line up makes sense with the “good” teams all should be there since they have a lot of question marks going into the season and need to prove they belong in the top part of the conference, but also have shown a lot of promise over the last few years to be well respected. Though I would have to put UA as a so-so team. So Connor, why ASU? Why OSU as “so-so”? Why UO as “elite” and not Cal?

Wisconsin also almost lost to Cal Poly at home, and would have lost if it wasn’t for 3 MISSED EXTRA POINTS by Cal Poly’s kicker.
Almost brings back bad, bad memories

Our rankings are different
Remember, Tortuga’s are compared to other teams in the nation. Mine are compared to the other teams in the conference.
With that being said, do I think ASU will be a Top 15 team. No. But compared to other teams in the Pac-10, they are going to be pretty good. I think the Ducks are going to definitely be a Top 10 team. Their offense should be explosive as usual and their defense should only get better. Their schedule also helps them out with playing all the good Pac-10 teams at home. Once again, California should be pretty good, but they find a way to mess up their season every year. Don’t be surprised if that happens again. With Oregon State, I can see us either being Elite, Good, or So-So. I put us at So-So because we’ve got a tough road schedule and we are unproven at some positions at defense.
As for the Big 10, I honestly don’t know that much about the teams. I knew Wisconsin had a fairly easy schedule so I put them as Elite. I can’t really say any more for the Big 10.
I was off on the WAC. I don’t know what I was thinking there. Maybe I should of put them at 8. I do think they will be better than the Big East because that conference is going to be incredibly soft this year.
So there’s my justifications.

Didn't mean to jump so harshly on the rankings
I have been loving the previews. But man I just couldn’t believe what I was reading

OSU
You have some good points about the Beavs this year, but as with my arguments of why the Ducks are not an “elite” team going into the 09 season, I would make the inverted argument about the Beavers not being a “so-so” team going into the season: Because of the established coaching situation and established success the team has had under Riley. Would I be totally surprised if the Beavers had a less than stellar run next season? Not totally, just like I wouldn’t be totally surprised if the Ducks did make a run for the Pac title. But I think both teams can also go the other way too, where the Beavs make a solid run and the Ducks underachieve. So I would put both under the “good” category (along with Cal) sitting there ready to prove they can make a run at the only “elite” team in the conference going into 09: USC.
Just my thoughts.
And yes still not sure about ASU above OSU, could it happen? Sure, but going off history, and last year, I don’t see it going into the season. ASU and DE has A LOT to prove before we can put them up there. ASU’s season could be very interesting to watch though.

That's pretty much what I was trying to say above
Sorry if I didn’t make it clear.
I think the Top 6 teams in the Pac-10 could be anywhere from Elite to So-So.

I guess
It just kind-of jumps out at me when before they have played anything you have put UO as elite and OSU as so-so. Just think USC is the only team to have proven itself to be called elite (in relation to both the Pac-10 and the nation) and the rest (UO, Cal, and OSU) are solid good teams with a chance to make the run.
Not a big deal really to me, your predicts are as good as mine! And really my thoughts above are actually more about my thinking at this time than an argument against yours (might not seem so, but really), I’m just using your predicts to formulate my own thoughts. I’m sure I’ll change my mind about 100 times before and during the season.
Got me thinking about OSU football already, so that’s a good thing!
