This is so hard to predict so I admire both of you for going out there on these!
Just don’t know. Will UO lose to Boise State and USC? Wouldn’t be surprised to see wins for either of those games, but on the flip side I wouldn’t be surprised to see some losses on the road to Arizona and at home to Cal early in the season and OSU late. UO could go a lot of ways and so hard to predict.
Same deal for OSU, playing USC on the road will be DIFFICULT and SC could run away with it but at the same time don’t count us out for finally getting over another one of those big program hurdles with a W in the Coliseum. ASU could be a W too and so could the Civil War game (another pretty tough one but there is going to be A LOT that happens between the start of the season and end). Plus on the other side I don’t think winning at Cal is easy one to predict for that game could go either way.
I’m not saying your picks are wrong, but wow just so hard to predict right now! Not sure I would be brave enough to try! Well done, lots of work is going into this series of picks!

Good point, that makes sense
I’m still not brave enough though!
I think my main flip would be the ASU and Cal games for us. ASU won’t be a cake walk, but right now (and later probably will change my mind) I think we have a better chance to beat ASU on the road than Cal next year. Yes, I know we have a great track record beating Cal on the road, but we did win last year and the year before so not sure it will be easy to beat them three years in a row.

Tortuga's Picks and UO
I will say that the Utah and Cal games at Autzen won’t be as easy as some people think (not saying either of you above are saying those games will be “easy” but have read other stuff that implies the games should be pretty easy ones for the Ducks). I actually could see the Ducks pulling off the W in Boise and being a bit too confident and losing to Utah and/or Cal. Purdue should be an easy one, but still they could sneak up on the Ducks too for they aren’t quite a Utah State but I think the Ducks should handle them. On the other side of that if like you say the Ducks lost to BSU and then turned around and did beat Utah and Cal then UO will be in great shape. Long season though.

Utah will not be anywhere near where they were last year, plus they’ll be at autzen so they won’t get a phantom, late pass interference call in the end zone, so I think they lose by at least two scores. That prediction would be the same for Utah vs. any of the top half of the PAC 10. They lose a lot and I think it’s slightly harder for them to reload.

I just see it as too many variables at this time. I think both Utah and Oregon have some interesting question marks going into this season that could come out and haunt them early in the season.
I don’t know why I just want to give Utah more credit than Boise State at this time. Sure Boise has their hot shot QB returning and Utah lost people, but I have actually been impressed by how the Utes have reloaded each year under Whittingham and last year’s win against Alabama was impressive.
Does this mean an automatic W at Autzen? Nah, not what I’m saying and if pressed at this point in time I would pick the Ducks to win of course. My point is mainly I think people are underplaying Utah a bit and overplaying Boise State next year (IMO).

And another thing
If OSU does start 4 and 0 like you both predict the hype will be huge for that will be a complete flip of what everyone has been used to with Riley teams. We will all talking about “is this going to be the year?” That will then make that ASU game very very very interesting and will the Beavs (coaching staff and players) learned their lesson from last year and play up to their potential and take it to the Sun Devils or will the hype get to them like the end of last year thus leading to a big loss.

I think ASU has more to show us then either of the Oregon schools. I’m not ready to concede a predicted loss to them. I’m actually more worried about Arizona this year, believe it or not.

Same here and I agree overall. I was just saying that if OSU is 4 and 0 going into this game the hype will be high for this will be so different than what we are used to as OSU football fans (slow starts has been the Riley way). If we are 4 and 0 I assume that means that Quizz and the offense will be clicking and the defense playing solid. So this will be the first really big road test. So the questions become “Can the Beavs continue to sustain this level of play?” “Will the pressure get to them like it did at the end of last year?” “Are they for real this year?” Etc.
I think it could well be a big game mentally for the team will be going into a big “revenge” game against Stanford at home the next game. Then on the road to SC, which indeed if we are 4 and 0 and beat ASU we could well be going into LA at 6 and 0 and the first game of the year for the Beavs with Pac-10 championship meaning behind it.
Will we be 4 and 0 by then? Don’t know honestly, for the Beavs have a tough schedule.
Right now I see no reason why we can’t beat ASU even on the road. But yes getting UA early is going to be a challenge, and not sure we will have much of a “home” field advantage this early in the year. That said I think that UNLV and Cincy could be challenges too, but I do expect wins for these games. Going to be a VERY interesting year next year. If the Beavs only lose three it will be a really really good season and they will deserve a good Bowl berth! If they do better, which I’m personally going to hold them to, it will be one of our best seasons.

We've got Arizona at Reser
It would be different if it were in Tucson.

Not sure this gives us a clear cut edge
I don’t know. I’m worried that since it will be the first conference game of the year the momentum for the season will be just getting going for the fans. If I’m not mistaken school won’t even have started yet so a lot of the students will be moving in and getting adjusted to the new year, etc. I assume it will be a good sized crowd but just don’t think it will have the level of energy we’ll see for the later home games. Plus UA doesn’t have the appeal of playing Cal, USC, and Oregon at home.
But here’s hoping I’m completely wrong! And we get a large and crazy loud crowd and beat them by 24 points!

School hadn't started for the USC game last year
And that was the loudest and craziest I’ve ever seen it. I just think that Reser’s going to be a very tough place to play this year.

UA isn't USC, but you could be right
And I hope your right. I think if the Beavs can take care of business in non-conference and look very solid doing it that should bring in enough buzz to get a good and loud crowd for the game.
And I will say I really do hope everyone shows up in force this year for the home games, I think the team can be very good and with the really BIG games on the road this year we need to support the team for the home games even more!
