FREAKIN' GIOVANNI BERNARD.
If you haven't watched this video right here it's mandatory off-season viewing.
Not only is this kid a GREAT runner like his brother he has the speed dimension that Yve always had trouble with. IF he comes to OSU he'd have a year to team up with Quizz or observe--whatever works best. He'd come into a great situation. A Katz/Bernard backfield makes me smile.
If you watch even a second of it, get to the 2:09 mark. Bernard talks about what's important to him (relationship with coaching staff) and what's not (flashy weight rooms, giant SEC stadiums, etc.). He mentions OSU as an early leader as well. Sure, the link is from April but I've been freaking busy, OK?!
Giovanni... if you Googled yourself and found this entry, just know that you GOTTA be a Beaver.

A buddy ran into Yvenson at the bars here in Corvallis.. it sounds like Yve is pushing REAL hard for Gio to come here. If nothing else, there’s a picture on Yve’s facebook of Gio playing football that’s captioned “The future of OSU football” or something of that nature. It helps having family members on your side.
If Gio is serious about his what’s important, what’s not, then we have a legitimate shot. But let me tell you something, everyone has heard this song and dance before. It’s hard not to be mystified when walking into a place like the Swamp or Neyland Stadium or the Horseshoe. Hopefully he’s serious, but I guarantee on his recruiting visits he’s gonna wonder “what would it be like playing here”

Even Yvenson wanted to go to Miami. Growing up in Florida there aren’t many kids who dream of playing in the NW. They want to be a Gator, ‘Nole or ’Cane. Maybe even a Bull. OK, just kidding about USF. Anyway, it’ll be hard to sway him because I think if someone in the SEC really wants him and shows him he can be the man he’ll do it… I can’t blame him for it… but hopefully Yve can lean on him hard enough to take a long hard look at OSU. We were good to his brother, his brother was good to us and we’d pay it forward to Giovanni without a doubt.
But ultimately it needs to be a good fit and he needs to be happy about his decision. If he doesn’t want OSU he can’t force it and we can’t expect him to make it fit.
Sure would be nice though… we could get him #26 if he wanted…

Exactly, it’s hard for a kid from south Florida to turn down an offer from Miami. It’s like living in Alabama and getting offered by Alabama or Auburn and saying “eh I think I’ll go elsewhere.” It’s just what you do.
What I think might be the biggest pull for Gio is if Yvenson actually made the Seahawks squad to the point where it was a permanent living situation, and they could move their dad out here. I know it was a struggle for Yvenson only having his dad be able to attend one game his whole career, and that would have to play a part in his decision. If he does go elsewhere, we wish him the best. But Gio, if you’re reading this: give Oregon State a shot! I know we have what you say you’re looking for.
My early guess is that he ends up at the U and no hard feelings there.

That’s cool and all…
But you guys have a recruit named Michael Doctor. I’m pissed about that, because that’s such a sweet name for a LB.

He is such a BAMF, I cannot wait to see him in the orange and black

What’s better than having “Doctor” at the start of your name? Having it at the end, that’s what.
